Set up Automated Messages
# Set Up Automated Messages
## Overview
**Automated Messages** let creators build trigger-based message sequences that automatically reach fans after specific actions.
Creators can use automations for flows like welcoming new followers, following up after purchases, replying to keyword messages, and building richer fan segments with conditions and delays.
## Create an automation
1. Go to **Creator Tools** > **Automated Messages**.
2. Select **New Automation**.
3. Choose **Build from Scratch** or select a template.
4. Add a **Fan Action** trigger.
5. Add **Condition** and/or **Auto Message** steps.
6. Set any delays between steps.
7. Review the automation and enable it when ready.

- **Starts Free Trial**
- **Purchases Membership**
- **Cancels Membership**
- **Purchases from Marketplace**
- **Purchases Content**
- **Purchases a Post**

- **Sends Message With Keywords**
- **Comments on Your Fanwall**
## Using conditions
Conditions help creators decide which fans continue through an automation.
Available condition types include membership status, purchased content, time followed, number of purchases, highest purchase, total spent, average spent, and recent messaging activity.
Creators can combine conditions using **and/or** logic and add condition groups for more detailed targeting.
## Automation limits
- Creators can have up to **40 automations**.
- Each condition step can include up to **50 conditions**.

### What happened to Welcome Messages?
Welcome Messages are deprecated. To create or update a welcome flow, use Automated Messages with the **Manually Follows You** trigger.
### Can I use templates?
Yes. Creators can build from scratch or choose from available templates.
### Can I add delays between messages?
Yes. Creators can set delays before condition or Auto Message steps.
### Can I exclude fans who recently messaged me?
Yes. Use the recent messaging activity condition to skip fans who have messaged within the selected time window.
### What happens if multiple automations match the same fan action?
Each matching enabled automation can run. If duplicate automations are set up with the same trigger and conditions, fans may receive duplicate messages.
### Where can I see analytics for automated messages?
Automated messages are tracked in message analytics. In the message analytics view, automated messages can be opened back to the related automation.
