# Set Up Automated Messages
## Overview
<p><strong>Automated Messages</strong> let creators build trigger-based message sequences that automatically reach fans after specific actions.</p>
<p>Creators can use automations for flows like welcoming new followers, following up after purchases, replying to keyword messages, and building richer fan segments with conditions and delays.</p>
## Create an automation
<ol>
<li>Go to <strong>Creator Tools</strong> > <strong>Automated Messages</strong>.</li>
<li>Select <strong>New Automation</strong>.</li>
<li>Choose <strong>Build from Scratch</strong> or select a template.</li>
<li>Add a <strong>Fan Action</strong> trigger.</li>
<li>Add <strong>Condition</strong> and/or <strong>Auto Message</strong> steps.</li>
<li>Set any delays between steps.</li>
<li>Review the automation and enable it when ready.</li>

## Using conditions
<p>Conditions help creators decide which fans continue through an automation.</p>
<p>Available condition types include membership status, purchased content, time followed, number of purchases, highest purchase, total spent, average spent, and recent messaging activity.</p>
<p>Creators can combine conditions using <strong>and/or</strong> logic and add condition groups for more detailed targeting.</p>
## Automation limits
<ul>
<li>Creators can have up to <strong>40 automations</strong>.</li>
<li>Each condition step can include up to <strong>50 conditions</strong>.</li>

### What happened to Welcome Messages?
<p>Welcome Messages are deprecated. To create or update a welcome flow, use Automated Messages with the <strong>Manually Follows You</strong> trigger.</p>
### Can I use templates?
<p>Yes. Creators can build from scratch or choose from available templates.</p>
### Can I add delays between messages?
<p>Yes. Creators can set delays before condition or Auto Message steps.</p>
### Can I exclude fans who recently messaged me?
<p>Yes. Use the recent messaging activity condition to skip fans who have messaged within the selected time window.</p>
### What happens if multiple automations match the same fan action?
<p>Each matching enabled automation can run. If duplicate automations are set up with the same trigger and conditions, fans may receive duplicate messages.</p>
### Where can I see analytics for automated messages?
<p>Automated messages are tracked in message analytics. In the message analytics view, automated messages can be opened back to the related automation.</p>
