DMs: Mass, Welcome, & 1:1

Creators can use Messages to send mass messages, manage 1:1 conversations, and connect with fans directly. ## Send a mass message 1. Go to Messages, or select + Create in the bottom corner of the page next to your avatar. 2. Select Mass Message. 3. Choose who should receive the message. - Include or exclude memberships, lists, and expired memberships. - Look for the hourglass icon for expired memberships. - Use the search bar to find specific lists or memberships. 4. Compose your message in the edit field. 5. Add media by selecting Upload Media or Add from Vault. 6. Add personalization variables if needed. - Select @TemplateName or @DisplayName and use the edit icon. - Or type @ and choose from the dropdown list. 7. Adjust Advanced Settings if needed. - Auto Delete is on by default at 38 hours. - Skip Recent Chats is on by default at 30 minutes. - Schedule Send and Expire options are also available. 8. Send your message. ## Target fans based on post activity To message fans based on post activity: 1. Go to Analytics > Posts. 2. Select Add to list. 3. Choose fans who bought, tipped, or liked the post. 4. Use that list when selecting recipients for your mass message. ## Mass messages vs. group chats A group chat is built for fan-to-fan interaction in a shared space. A mass message lets you reach multiple fans at once, but each message lands as a personal 1:1 DM. It is not a group thread. ## What you can do in 1:1 DMs In 1:1 DMs, creators can: - Personalize messages with variable names. - Send videos, images, or audio. - Track how fans engage with and respond to messages. - Reuse past messages as templates. To control whether fans can send rich media, go to Settings > Messaging > Creator Message Settings > Allow message media from fans. ## DM notification counts and inbox filters Your DM notification count reflects unread activity in Messages. This can include unread messages and unread reactions, so the count is not limited to chats that are unanswered or unread. If you are checking your inbox with filters, use one filter at a time. Selecting multiple filters at once, such as Unanswered and Unread, narrows the results and may hide chats that would appear under either filter individually. To check results clearly: 1. Open Messages. 2. Select Unanswered only and review the results. 3. Clear the filter. 4. Select Unread only and review the results. ## Automated welcome messages For automated welcome messages, see Set up Automated Messages.
