Tax Forms for $600+ Earnings (W-9 vs. W-8BEN)
Creators who earn $600 or more through Passes may be required to submit a tax form. The form you complete depends on whether you are a U.S. creator or a non-U.S. creator.
## W-9 form for U.S. creators
The W-9 tax form is required for U.S. creators to report income earned on Passes.
If you earn $600 or more in a calendar year, you must submit a W-9 to receive a 1099 tax document for tax filing.
To complete your W-9:
1. Go to Settings > Payout.
2. Select W-9 / W-8BEN Form.
3. Select the US citizens tab.
4. Complete the form.
5. Make sure all information is accurate to avoid delays.
### Looking for your 1099?
U.S. creators may receive a Form 1099-NEC if they meet the reporting threshold for the tax year.
To check your tax forms, go to Settings > Payout > Taxes. If a digital 1099-NEC is available for your account, you can access it there.
If you expected a 1099 but do not see one, check that your W-9 information is complete and up to date. You can also check your inbox and spam/junk folders for any tax-form email notifications from Passes or its tax provider.
## W-8BEN form for non-U.S. creators
The W-8BEN form is for creators outside the U.S. to certify their foreign tax status and report income earned on Passes.
This form helps determine whether tax withholding applies to your earnings. Without a completed W-8BEN, higher tax withholding rates may be applied.
To complete your W-8BEN:
1. Go to Settings > Payout.
2. Select W-9 / W-8BEN Form.
3. Select the Non-US citizens tab.
4. Complete the form.
5. Make sure all information is accurate to avoid delays.
If you have specific tax-related questions, reach out to a tax professional or accountant. Passes cannot provide tax advice.
